General Tips for Preparing for Gallbladder Surgery

If you wanted to undergo Gallbladder Surgery, consult the Doctor and get complete details about the Surgery. Decide whether you want open surgery or laparoscopic surgery. Laparoscopic surgery is advanced when compared to open surgery and it helps in easy recovery.

Also, clearly ask the Doctor about the medications and diet control to be followed before undergoing Gallbladder Surgery. The Doctor will provide you all guidelines and when you are convinced, you will be asked to give a written consent to perform the surgery. The Doctor may also suggest you to empty the colon and cleanse intestines prior to the surgery. You can do it if you are comfortable.

• Avoid taking certain drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, warfarin, blood thinners, anti inflammatory medications, vitamin E medicines, arthritis medications and other medications that would make blood clotting a difficult task.

• You should inform Doctor about the medications you were taking and their duration. Especially, inform the Doctor about the medications you are taking for mainly blood pressure, diabetes, seizures, and heart and kidney problems (if any).
